Excursions
To learn, to travel, to combine the two... is to celebrate life.
Essential to our workshops are the special excursions that provide learning beyond the studio. Italy contains nearly 80% of the western worlds cultural heritage, and visiting this living archive of humanity is one of the greatest experiences of a lifetime.
Our goal is to gently guide you through an intense cultural immersion that goes beyond snapshots at tourist stops. Accompanied by passionate art historians with excellent English language skills, we explore a deeper understanding of world-class artworks, architecture, and design. We also provide local food & wine insight, and some basic language skills that will help stimulate a connection with the place and people.
Excursions are specifically tailored for each workshop and can be full-day, or half-day trips with the instructor. Some of these outings will have you rambling through the famous museums of Rome and Florence with a sketchpad in hand, or exploring the architecture of remote villages, archeological sites and natural wonders. While other workshops will focus on seeking out local purveyors of cheese, wine and olive oil.
Famous artists throughout the ages have studied from masterworks in museums. Great chefs and wine experts have learned the secrets of taste from the fields, and historians and archeologists alike have made their most profound discoveries while in the presence of places and objects of research. We want to make sure that you will be a part of this great tradition.
