Climate
Blues skies, mild temps, fresh air and fewer tourists.
Umbria has a typical semi-arid Mediterranean climate. The summers are warm and dry, with an early spring and late autumn. The winters are mild with regular rains during the early winter months.
The nearby Apennine Mountains form a barrier from the Adriatic Sea, and block the cold winds from the Northeast. The hills and valleys of the region offer a variety of microclimates that often brings a dense fog during the mornings in colder months. It’s a magical sight... medieval castles atop green hills that appear to be floating on a milky white sea of fog.
The average temperature at our abbey in the winter is 12 degrees Celsius, (53 degrees Fahrenheit) and in the summer 26 degrees Celsius, (78 degrees Fahrenheit).
