A Sense of Place, Photographing the Italian Experience

Itinerary: (Rated: physical walking requirements are moderate to light).


  2. Sunday, June 6

  3. 12:30pm Meet at the Rome airport. Shuttle departs at 12:30pm. The meeting point and other details are included in your Workshop Handbook which is sent after your reservation is confirmed.

  4. Orientation, dinner at the workshop followed by a social with the instructor.


  6. Monday, June 7

  7. 7:30am Breakfast at the workshop.

  8. 9:00am Workshop class, morning shoot with Rick in nature.

  9. Lunch at the workshop.

  10. Afternoon photo excursion to explore the villages and ruins of Amelia and Orvieto, with dinner in Orvieto.


  12. Tuesday, June 8

  13. 7:30am Breakfast at the workshop.

  14. 9:00am Morning photo session and workshop class with Rick. Review session.

  15. Lunch at the workshop.

  16. Waterfall & Petrified forest

  17. Dinner at the Workshop.


  19.  Wednesday, June 9

  20. 7:30am Breakfast at the workshop.

  21. 9:00am Morning photo session and workshop class with Rick. Review session.


  23. Afternoon, easy hike to the caves where St. Francis of Assisi meditated.

  24. Explore ruins, vineyard, villages around Assisi.  Wine tasting in nearby Montefalco and dinner in Assisi.


  26.  Thursday, June 10

  27. 7:30am Breakfast at the workshop.

  28. All day excursion to explore Florence, the Uffizi Museum and Academia with Michelangelo’s David. Discussion and instruction time with Rick throughout the day. (We travel by train on this day).

  29. Lunch and dinner in Florence


  31. Friday, June 11

  32. 7:30am Breakfast at the workshop.

  33. 9:00am  Morning photo session and workshop class with Rick around the workshop. Review session.

  34. Lunch in Calcata, off the beaten path small artsy village.

  35. Free time at the workshop, Prepare for final exhibit.

  36. 5:00pm Informal final exhibition with wine and cheese, followed by a farewell dinner at the workshop.


  38. Saturday, June 12

  39. 11:00am Shuttle van departs the workshop for the Rome airport.
